LFM - Lateral Force Microscopy

This technique is another STM related technique. It is also closely related to the technique of Chemical Force Microscopy (CFM). In LFM, The tip is swept such that the fast motion occurs perpendicular to the tip arm, and the slow motion parallel to the tip arm. LFM is sensitive to frictional effects and can detect changes in material when no accompanying changes in morphology occur.
